Quick trip to South Straddie
Sunday afternoon when we decided it was time to dust off our boat, turn over the motor, and head out for a sun-drenched escape. The thought of feeling the gentle sway of the water beneath us while soaking up the warm sunshine was too tempting to resist.
Despite the weather forecast predicting a windy day, Mother Nature seemed to be on our side. Instead of battling gusty winds, we found ourselves greeted by tranquility. The usual choppy waves were replaced with calm waters that made for an easy and enjoyable boat ride.

As we approached South Straddie, we noticed something unusual - there wasn’t a soul in sight. The water was devoid of other vessels, and the typically bustling island appeared to be deserted. It felt as if we had stumbled upon our own private paradise.

We decided to make the most of this rare solitude by going for a leisurely stroll along the sandy beach. The soft sand underfoot and the peaceful sound of small waves lapping at the shoreline set a serene backdrop for our afternoon walk.

During our beach exploration, we stumbled upon an old swing hanging from a towering tree. Its worn ropes and weathered seat spoke volumes about all the joyous memories it had been part of over years past.

With heavy hearts but refreshed spirits, we bid farewell to South Straddie and started our journey back home under a sky full of stars.

As sunset approached, vibrant hues of orange and pink painted the sky and reflected beautifully off the calm waters. It was an awe-inspiring sight that served as a perfect end to our day out at sea. Our unexpected adventure turned out to be one of those simple yet memorable days that remind us how beautiful life can be when you take time to appreciate nature’s wonders around you – even if it’s just on an ordinary Sunday afternoon.
